Help You Fulfill Your Health Goals, Yoda Will!March 12, 2015
A New Hope for March
My boys are obsessed with Star Wars and are constantly reading Star Wars books or watching the movies – thus the Star Wars reference! Trust me, this will make sense in a minute!
We are halfway through March and therefore almost through the first quarter of the year. This is a common time for many people to forget about their goals, resolutions and plans they had for the year – especially their health & fitness goals. This is when people often stop going to the gym, forget about the diet they committed to, and even abandon their health & fitness goals for the year.
The Resolution Strikes Back
I encourage you to review and re-commit to your ‘New Years Resolutions’ and the goals and plans you had to live a healthier life this year. If you didn’t have a chance to write a health plan for the year – now is the time.
As you are reviewing your health goals for the rest of the year, or possibly re-committing to them, I would like to provide you with wise council from an ancient philosopher: Yoda!
In Star Wars Episode V, when Luke was failing at using the force, and close to giving up, he told Yoda he would give it another try. Then Yoda provided Luke Skywalker with some profound wisdom that applies to any goal in life that you are trying to achieve, especially your health & fitness goals for this year:
“Try not. Do…or Do Not. There is no try.”
If you take this wisdom from Yoda, and look at your health goals for this year with the mindset that you will DO them, and not just try – chances are that you will accomplish your goals and not allow barriers to stop you! If you have the mindset of ‘Try’, chances are you may give up when you face resistance. So take Yoda’s advice, and do! Make this the year that you will stick to your health goals!
