Perfecting Your Squat While Exercising
February 13, 2024
How many squats can you do in a minute? 20? 50? 100? No matter the number of sets and reps you can do, the question is: Is your form right? When performed with proper form, squats combat our hip pain and knee pain like sitting all day. Incorporating squats into your exercise routine can also strengthen your torso and prevent occurrences of kyphosis or internal shoulder rotations.
1. To begin, you want to set your feet about shoulder-width apart
Brace your core to keep your back straight, then initiate movement with the butt out.
2. Next, make sure that your knees are not diving into the middle
They should be tracking straight over your toes, and not protruding beyond them (staying right in line with the toes).
3. To turn on your glutes more
Try to spread the floor with your feet, pushing outward with both your feet and your knees.
4. Remember to breathe
The best way to do this is breathing in on the way down and up on the way up.
