“My hiking would not be possible without the CBPT team doing such a great job on me! I’m stronger now than before my surgery.”

TY SUTHERLAND
Nearly four years ago, we had the privilege of meeting our patient, Ty Sutherland. At the time, we had no idea what a great friendship we would develop. Ty was referred to CBPT by Dr. Jae Chon after major spine surgery; however, spine surgery was not the only obstacle Ty had to overcome. Later, Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Orr Limpisvasti performed surgery on both shoulders to help repair a torn labrum. He walked through our door, hurt, in pain and unhappy with how his body was unable to keep up with his fast-paced life. As an avid hiker, and outdoorsman, Ty’s life had come to a complete halt not allowing him to do all the things he loves in life.
Ty came to Coury and Buehler Physical Therapy and met Dr. Brandon Buehler, PT, DPT, OCS. Brandon realized how Ty’s life was being compromised by his injuries and created rehabilitation programs built specifically for Ty.
“Brandon had to make my repaired body work again and get me stronger so I could use it,” said Ty. “My body was a mess!”
Over the course of rehabilitation from each of his surgeries, Ty put in many months of rigorous rehab sessions. After his hard work under the guidance of Brandon and the CBPT team, Ty finally felt like his old self again. With more energy and strength, Ty took his results back to the mountain. Ty climbed Mt. Baldy in 15 degree weather and 40-50 mph winds and then hiked on the Johyn Muir Trail in the Sierras where he trekked 44 miles in six days, climbing three 14,000 foot peaks that require rope work and even some ice climbing. Ty’s recovery is remarkable, and he attributes much of his success to his great surgeons and the skilled rehabilitation he received at CBPT.
“My hiking wouldn’t have been possible without Brandon and the CBPT team doing such a great job on me,” said Ty.
Thank you Ty for the opportunity to help you! We hope you are enjoying life one mountain at a time!
