“They can fix any part of the body and will loosen muscles you didn’t even know you had. They will always do their best to heal you and make you better and trust me, after five years, I would know!”

THURSTON BOWDEN
My name is Thurston Bowden, I am retired and 60 years old. I enjoy collecting Archie and Dennis the Menace comics as well as collecting baseball cards. I am the proud owner of six rescue animals that I take on daily one mile walks to keep us all in shape. After I retired, my dream was to complete my bucket list, and I have tried to do so by traveling all over the world. In 2008 I traveled to Australia. In 2009 I went on an African Safari (where I made friends with three lion cubs), and went on cruises in 2009 and 2010. I’ve traveled to Alaska, New Zealand and even the Caymen Islands to swim with sting rays.
I have been coming to Coury & Buehler Physical Therapy for the last five years after completing two knee surgeries, suffering from shoulder problems and now back aches. Before my injury, I was walking five miles a day with no problem and as you could tell; I loved traveling and seeking new adventures.
My back pain started in late 2011, which I later found out through an MRI was due to a pinched nerve. In February 2012, I underwent back surgery as my surgeon told me it was my best and only option. I found myself in the hospital for 14 days and spent the first 96 hours in excruciating pain. It was one of the worst experiences I ever had, and I knew I needed to seek CBPT’s help again.
After acquiring my back injury, I went from five miles to one mile walks with my rescue animals, and had trouble cleaning my house and even making my bed. I was unable to sit for more than 20-30 minutes at a time, so I knew traveling in an airplane or car would be impossible. This was something that was devastating to me. All I wanted to do was walk my dogs two to three miles a day, do my house work, and travel again with no pain, with the hope that my next destination would be Costa Rica.
I turned to CBPT as I feel like they are my family. I knew that CBPT would do their best to help me become pain free again for the fifth time, having already been successful four times and walking away painless each time. CBPT has taught me how to walk up and down stairs with crutches and has made me aware of bad posture because of pain. I am now always aware and conscious of my posture anywhere I go. My therapist, Amber McGill, PT, DPT has been amazing. She has done new hands-on therapy which helped keep me on the track to being pain free. She has helped me manage my pain and taught me so much about my body and its mechanics.
While I still have my up and down days, I know that CBPT has helped me out so much. They can fix any part of the body and will loosen muscles you didn’t even know you had. They will always do their best to heal you and make you better and trust me, after five years, I would know!
